Send us back to space rock days...

SENDELICA
Psychedelic Prog /Stoner/SPace Rock
UNITED KINGDOM

Wanna flow through spicy space? Then check this out!

These 6 psych-heads send your mind into outtaspace and beyond by creating some meditative psychedelic high-class stuff...
Space rock at it's finest.
Their newest record called „The fabled voyages of the Sendelicans“ include 6 songs.

With „Standing on the edge“ they warp you into their orbit.
A Heavy guitar riff combined with hypnotic effects and some mid-tempo drumming.
After this one you'll be pretty hyped for some more to come.

„Manhole of the universe“. 11min Masterpiece. Reminds me of a rough version of Samsara Blues Experiment or even a space-rock version of Tia Carrera mixed with some White Hills.
Updiving from endless delay-riffing they get into a groovy, slow kraut jam. Improving their outtaspace character by getting quiter and shortly more effect-accentuated just before setting up a solid psych-fuzz-wall again. Coolness and highness factor at least 9/10.

„ZHYLY BYLY“. Way more electronical and a bit comparable to some slower Ozric Tentacles parts. Get lost in endless space-fogs.
„Screaming and streaming into the starlit nite“. Lee Relfe on sax. Really nice harmonics for some lonely midnight milky way cruising or some sky picknicks.
„Carningli (Hill of angels)“. This one's more into ambient creating atmospheric dreamscapes.
And the last one „Spaceman bubblegum“. Ready to shake your hips? Groovy as hell. Here they come back to their distinctive mix of experimental-, psychedelic- space rock.

...Fruity Interview...

Interview with Hubert(Vocals, different other instruments)

How did you get the name „GO BANANAS“ and which goals do you personally pursue concerning the band?
Go Bananas means to get crazy, to lose your mind just like you have been bitten by a wild monkey. When we were making up our minds to find a good and fitting band name, we asked ourselves one What does it mean to us to make music?
The result was very clear: Music means to relax and just to lay down without obeying to any social rules. To cut a long story short, just to do whatever pops up in your mind, get rid of all the unimportant things in life and to listen to your inner inspiration!

How do most of your songs come to life?Do you have any precederues you keep to?
Mostly we get our songs out of jam sessions but also out of preconceived song structures, which have been developed by both of our guitarists, Woife and Aki. However, we do try to include influences of all our band members in order to get the right flow which satisfies the whole band.

What are your engines, your concepts, what do you stand for with your music?
For me, honest and handmade produced music always was one of the most important things. Music is part in every situation of my life, meaning that it does not only help me to deal with all the difficulties in it, but is also a welcoming guest which accamponies the good days in life. Therfore the most horrific thing to do would be living a life without music! Benefiting from the newest techniques and possibilities to produce music these days is kind of an engine enough to leave behind our own musical footprint.

How did the first tour go?
It was a long awaited and very funny life experience which definitely none of us wants to miss! We got to meet crazy and extremely hospitable people, all of them being unique and supporting the underground music. We have to say that we are very thankful for this great tour and want to express our gratitude once again to everybody who helped us getting through our tour, even though we did not have any contracts, label or managers.

What are the most important things to take with you whilst touring?
Name at least 3. First of all a whole lot of sound, a whole lot of light and a lot more of fun!

What was your first CD you have ever bought?
You definitely do not want to know that. At that time I was very young and therefore extremely dumb, also I had next to nothing. (My taste in music is not the same anymore, and I also grew older but that is all that has changed up to now) Name 3 of your favorite bands. For me, it is very difficult to do that, as there are so many great bands and my personal taste changes every now and then. There are bands which I do not listen to in years, and suddenly once again in continuous repetition. However, I would list the all time godfathers BLACK SABBATH on the first place, followed by Monkey3, Sleeping Karma and Space Collective. I know that I have named four bands, but in my opinion three are way too few. At last I want to mention that you should enjoy every band on Vinyl or if possible even live!
Do you have any rehearsal rituals?
Not really. Of course it is important to just get into a chilly mood, eat a few bites of whatever you like, forget about your jobs and problems and meet up with a bottle of beer or a glass of wine. Only when your mind is free, the music can start to unfold! However this is a long process which sometimes can even take up to 2 hours. This is probably the reason why our rehearsals last longer than usual.

What are the future plans of the band?
After having released our second album „Erutan“, which we have recorded all by ourselves, we want to hit the stage again and play as many concerts as possible. The plan is, to make people with our live music happy. If you are interested in any gigs, just write us! We are easy to handle and willing to join every party! Besides, we are looking forward every day to get into our chilly room, in order to write new songs and spend some nice psychedelic evenings in there.

Additional words for the world out there?
Take your time and enjoy the real things worth living in life! Be pleased by the nature and listen to handmade music, escape the stress of our society and support music which comes from the heart.

Big thank's to Hubert for this support and check them out on their facebook page here!

...retro rock has a high...

KILLER MOON
USA
PSYCH ROCK/HEAVY ROCK

Killer Moon is a psychedelic journey of three friends throughout the best years and times of our lives, reflected within our music. We are chasing a high mountain one that will enrich our souls, and make us better people and musicians. Our journey is one of love, anger, pain, sweat, and blood. Psychedelic jam band with classic rock and doomy sludge undertones. Extended instrumentals paired with ambient vocals make Killer Moon a must see for anyone looking to expand their mind and musical horizons.
Killer Moon was formed by Jesse Garza, Alejandro Santoyo & Amaris Aviles in the summer of 2007 in Chicago. The group honed in on their sound for about a year before deciding to take their talents to South Florida. Garza, Santoyo and Aviles were in Miami for 2 years playing shows and living under the same roof until the two decided to move back to the Chicago on Thanksgiving in 2010.

Upon their return to the Windy City, Killer Moon started playing shows at a break neck pace. The trio has recently started touring in the Midwest and continues to draw increasingly larger crowds in Chicago.

Killer Moon’s new album was recorded at Semaphore Studios and Electrical Audio with producer and musical wizard Sanford Parker. Self Titled Album was released May 2012 and can be purchased wherever available.

"It has been some time ago that a band impressed me this much! I even wrote a message to them to get the possibility to write a review for them ,that means a lot I think. The Retro Wave is coming and bands like Blues Pills, Mud Walk, Vidunder and a lot of others relieve the good old times again...Killer Moon have no reason to hide from bigger bands in this kind of music, they will rock the stages of this planet hard and dirty. With their own style they will charm many people live and hopefully they will release a vinyl. This music makes fun and has a high recognition value, trust me...get your own copy of their great work now!!! Thumbs up!!"

The 5th Element...

The Black Explosion
Sweden
Heavy Psych/Stoner Rock

Chris Winter took his rock and roll visions to create a spaced out, rock, fuzz and psyched out band called The Black Explosion. The musical style is rooted in rock & roll although it draws big influences from space-rock, soul, blues, noise and psych. After the great debut album Servitors Of The Outer here and now - the new album Elements of Doom.

Now i hold the second „holy grale“ in my hands and i am really happy about it, because this record hits me like good acid!
Welcome to the freaked out world of The Black Explosion! A really awesome psychedelic bluesy stoner crew with a epic potential to rock. The vocals remembers on Led Zeppelin, Iggy Pop, Wolfmother or something, but sounds clearly different, great arranged screams, and some effects and samples makes it better as it already sounds. What the whole Sound belongs at first definitely Hawkwind and White Stripes comes in my mind but it is harder, deeper and slower (mostly). The right point so say that i find that it is really good recorded and mastered. Sounds real professional for the second Album. The Tracklengt goes from 02:15 up to 06:01 minutes, apart from the „Wee will fall“ with the hidden track.
The cover is really strange and awesome, what is a „must have“ for such a album.
On the title track „Elements of Doom“ the Oscillator brubbles a strange brew with doomy riffs and some other spaced up stuff which sounds more fuzzed up, downtempo and psychedelic as on the first album.
The whole band could get real legendary as Mr Winter still is in another scene.
For me they are as good as Graveyard, Mamont and other bands from sweden, but it is another kind of music and especially that rulez. It may hasn´t the same „Earworm“ but comes very close on that point.

Some „Asskick“ songs are up there, like „Freekin Ride“ or „Blow it away“ which has a huge hit factor.

The Old School Fu Manchu, TAB, Nebula fraction will like „D-471“ pretty sure.
But that is only Side a if it was a LP. There are a lot of other good songs up there.
On „Mothership“ i thought Cheech and Chong himself cries out the intro and starts the ride.
The riffs sounds a little bit like the good old Sabbath here on some parts but still another strain.
A hidden Track and many good vibes are waiting at least as last track on this baby.
Members:
Chris Winter – Lead Vocals, Guitar
Joel Bergström – Guitar
Simon Haraldsson – Bass,
Andreas Lindquist – Drums

Spaced out guitars, samples, bass, aggressive drums (as we heard on the first album) and a „out of control“ voice remembers us that we all „Will Fall“.
I can highly recommend this record because they might get legendary and i have to say, that FOR ME they already are! So it's really worth listening! Not everyones sound of choice maybe, but i think the most Stonerheads will like it.
And That is my point in the end: Check it out LOUD! Turn on, Tune in, Drop out!

...Manthra Dei...back again!!!

Manthra Dei
Italy
Stoner/Psych
Acid Cosmonaut Records

Manthra Dei is an Italian stoner/psych/space rock four-piece that brings us some serious intergalactic soul/blues jams and let us fly in their colourful world...

The band's self-titled debut starts with the mighty long and trippy song named "Stone Face" and it makes you sure to know that the following song's are not more worst than this one, because also "Urjammer "(The faster 70ies song) ,"Xolotl" (great licks and solo structures) follows with the same power and it brings attention to the point. If you like bands with a lot of vocals and a nice jam atmosphere like Causa Sui, Earthless,The Machine or others, you definitely will like Manthra Dei because they have big cojones in they music and you can hear that.

With "Blue Phantom" the listener get the option for a free walk into a church and can listen to a spooky interlude followed by the last power and genius song "Legendary Lamb"this song gives again all the power of the band before the smooth acoustic song of "Stone Face" brings the record to a cozy end. Thank's for this great album...see ya soon on the road!!!

It's released in October 20 on CD through Acid Cosmonaut Records. Also available as Bandcamp download and don't forget the release party on 22th November.

...instrumental spaghetti western...

Korsakov%vol
Itay
Instrumental Stoner/Space Rock

Korsakov%vol. were born as an idea, during the summer 2004,by a solo project of the guitarist Mundula Davide. This project after being through many changes of line up due to a particular sound, became real at the down of 2006 when the bassist Pierpaolo Dore(good old friend of the guitarist) and the drummer Marco Secci Joined in. The trio recorded the first demo "palmo muto" in july 2006. Shortly after the keyboard player Porcu Graziano (another good old friend) were going to be part of the plan.
The 4 although coming from different music style sometimes diametrically opposite, try to mix their own experience gained over the years in order to shake up the stagnant music scene( with physiological modesty)...

So that's the band who shown up at the " sottosuoni " contest in 2006 that was held in a venue called "transilvania". That's basically considered as a debut , even though the very first gig were performed in a place that we called "ORTO" for a private party ( who knows this place can easily figure it out what we are talking about )....
When the drummer left the band due to musical differences about a huge abuse of booze on the stage and relative disaster, but with 3 performance behind , the band went on just for few months before split up when Davide was gone to London looking for a strike of luck!!

Grasshopper is my favourite song...Thumb up!"

...bad ass psych!!!

EARLY MAMMAL
LONDON
STONER/PSYCH

Early Mammal started on February 1st 2012 in an old butter factory in Camberwell, South London, called Dropout (London's true home of sludge and noise). Formed by Rob Herian (ex-Elks http://www.heavyplanet.net/2011/10/new-band-to-burn-one-to-elks.html) on guitar and vocals, Ben Davies (ex-85 Bears) on drums, and with the prog-stylings of Turkish born Deniz Belendir on organ and synths, the band spent hours jamming heavy blues, space-rock and psyche with the likes of Captain Beefheart, High Rise, White Hills and Hawkwind on the brain, and in September 2012 finally finished recording their first album, Horror at Pleasure, which is looking for a 2013 release.
It's head-down-rock; it's fuzzed-out and heavy. But there's also something wrong in the story. That's what the last few months have created in Early Mammal and that's what you get. That's what we all get because there's something not right about any of us, anywhere. All our stories are fucked. Early Mammal is coming from somewhere else. It's expected and it's telling you something.

Strange Forces

Australian Band Strange Forces influences range from Spacerock to obscure New-Age Prophecies. It sounds like a black sanded beach below 20 suns. It’s multi dimensional dark-surf, powered by Peyeote and driven by dark matter induced by their pineal gland. Strange Forces deliver a washed out Lo-Fi Psychedelic experience channeling organic and digital sounds from one swell to another.

...cobra news...

Sound of Cobra are really happy to announce that the Lp split between Expo’70 and Ancient Ocean is out!

After the onesided released some months ago the Missouri based multi-instrumentalist Justin Wright releases for Sound of Cobra a split lp with the new yorker avant rock guitarist Ancient Ocean.

listen to this great Split at bandcamp
buy it here

Justin Wright / Expo 70 for this 12″ keeps his psych drone space attitude mixed with kraut influences. Hanging the guitar at the wall in a corner, he recorded a great moog impro (using OPUS 3 and Realistic): a tranquil ambient soundtrack, dreamy as tangerine dream can be, perfect for a space journey, somewhere else near the stars, far far away from this earth we live on; a warm texture keeps us in vacuum place and no rythms come to bring us back to the reality. Listening to it, we thought there´s a magic place somewhere and we wanna find it and go there: but now, we just enjoy this 20mins Justin made for us.
The other side is for the brooklyn based musician John Bohannon aka ANCIENT OCEAN: hailing from the American South, he has howned a unique style of blissed-out amibent/drone meets americana-rooted psychedelia. The spaceship we were on slowly turns into a submarine and from the outer space we quicly dive into a deep ocean made of guitar loops and samples, listening to it we feel lost in a mix of cold and warm currents and dark shadows swim all around. Nice to be here!

The split comes out in 500 copies and it’s in collaboration with our friends of NO=FI Recordings and it’s released in occasion of their first european tour.

"A really interesting project of this two band's...you have a really big range of music and i think a lot of people will like this split because it's a little bit from everything in it...i hope i get the chance to see them live on their first tour...enjoy this great album and also check out other bands of SOUND OF COBRA...like the mighty DEAD SKELETONS...here ande other possible band's here"

Big thanks to Ricky

...touch my soul...

SOUL THIEF
Stoner/Psych
studio2recs
England

SOUL THIEF formed in 2009 when Robert Mathews joined Stuart Barton & Marcus Gage for some sessions they had been working on.

An immediate creativity was sparked with haunting etherial vocals and mighty pounding bass grooves. Guitars ripping up those riffs and shredding supernovae solos while drums thump like rocks being split as the band bring pieces to the brink of Armageddon and then lay them down again with sweet soul kisses.

Out of this union a music emerged that they referred to as Space Funk - mix of heavy psychedelic stoner space rock with the odd unusual time signature and a smooth aftertaste.

TRAVELING CIRCLE
Psych Rock/Progressive
U.S.A

"This Brooklyn three piece drones and trips their way through psychedelic acid rock based tunes like the old doors or the new Vibravoid. Traveling Circle comes together in a beautiful mash of spaced out influences but also old well-tried riffs like black sabbath with a bit of surf rock influences . Song's like "Forest Floor" are really smooth and have this certain something...also "Note Drops" are a really heavy song...in my opinion they are a better band-instrumental because the vocals sometimes are to conspicuously and drown important parts. On the whole, a wonderful album with plenty of good stuff...enjoy it here and order your own LP here.
