...space caravan...

ETHEREAL RIFFIAN
DOOM/STONER/PSYCH/PROG ROCK
UKRAINE

Ethereal Riffian band was formed in summer of 2010.

After spending several years and trying different musical styles, we have found sonic vibrations that sound in unison with our collective consciousness. Shaman’s Visions, the debut work of Ethereal Riffian, came into existence in 2011 and became the result of this long search.Exactly in a year, the next release Dkyil Khor (Sand Mandala) was added to the band’s discography. The twenty-minute meditational single was written for one of the expositions of the Arsenale-Biennale 2012 exhibition, which was devoted to the transience of time and the search of self.

The second full-length album called Aeonian is the band’s most mature work, which unites all the best talents of its members. The eponimous book merged as a result of our intention to fully disclose the ideas and concepts of this album. While working on the narrative, we realized that from now on books would become an integral part of the band’s creative work, for they let reinforce the images created by the music and inculcate them in the consciousness of our listeners.

The band’s activity has two main objectives: to compose unconventional music, which is able to expand the frames of the listener’s musical perception, and to shed light on the existence of a subtler plane, whose laws if understood properly may help to perceive the reality on a deeper level. In order to achieve the abovementioned goals, we diligently work on each new release. That is exactly why the ones who get acquainted with the creative work of our band need to be very attentive.

We sincerely hope that the message carefully integrated in our music is able to induce our listeners, and now our readers as well, to open up the new facets of existence and kindle the light of their true self, which will not dim even in the darkest nooks of Sheol.

Aeonian" is like a trip to outter space - the space shuttle would be operated with music and the fuel would never run out because this Hungarian dude's know exactly what they do. However, it is clear, that this EP is way better than the first one - it comes with more structure and a direct line.Very good arranged songs with a lot of scenery changes, spherical and roomful atmospheric smooth riffs mixed with echoing melodies, which turn into a breaking wave of hard and thrashing riffs. The whole album is exactly up to my taste and fascinated me.Get your own album of Ethereal Riffian!!

..shake your bones...

BONE MAN
STONER METAL
GERMANY
Pink Tank Records

So here is another band from Germany! BONE MAN is a three headed combo from Kiel, which was founded at 2007. This New Album named II is the 7th release of the Band. The Album starts with a percussive fuzzy guitar and bass part that hooked me on. Then, at 01:40 the singer MARIAN starts with his own special work. On the whole recording the Vocals are well arranged, partly with several voices. At the 2nd song “Closer To The Sun” the band shows a bit of 60ies and 70ies feeling. . There’s an Organ too.. WOW.. very impressive! The psychedelic style goes on at the third song, however it then gets noisy with the song “Stuck In The Mire”. Crowned with a kind of Russian Choir Voice.. I really like that Creativity. In “Out Of Phase” there are long noisy guitar vibes and grooving parts too. Nearly a bit progressive. All in All, MARIAN on the Guitar, ARNE on the Bass and ÖTZI on the drums, do a good and creative job on their instruments. It's not easy, to be so melodious in this kind of genre. Rocking songs, with fuzzy noise, cool solos and varied riffs included. Unfortunately I don't know the other releases of BONE MAN. But I think, I have to check them out!

...time for some flower blues...

Alice Tambourine
Go Down Records
Italy
Psychedelic Blues

You wanna ride down the Route 66 with a bottle of Whiskey, your last bucks, a hot chick, a fucked up bottleneck guitar on the right place, and a voice like jefferson airplane , coven or nowaredays jex thoth, sabbath assemly or something like that?
Welcome to the weired psychedelic World of Alice Tamourine Lover! A really smooth groovy psychedelic bluesy folk journey threw a great world of instruments, tones, tunes and vibes!
Shame over my head, but i never heard of them before. Maybe thats why i am impressed so much of this masterpiece. I really like Blues and when it is psychedelic and funky too, thats my ride!
There are so much Tracks that i only wanna write over the whole Album and what i think about it. The Vocals very softly fiting in the wah n fuzzed up psychedelic blues guitars. Some Bottleneck, Harp and Tambourine inlays and other great Stuff rounds up the mixture.
There are only two artist who make sound for about a whole band. If you want so...like the White Stripes but clearly different.
It only remembers on stoner stuff because of the „simple“ but mindbreaking riffing.
On the first few Tracks you can enjoy the very awesome voice of Alice.
But then the fourth track starts and „gipsy mind“ defenetly kicked me to another planet like a afterhour with the band of Gipsys and Hendrix. Really awesomse psychedelic love sound which couldn´t be played better from the old garde.
It is very nice to hear another album without the standard brew where they think they should play or the producers say that they should play this or that.
For me it is a new age hippie masterpiece of their own psychedelic stoner blues sight, wide away from the flood of modern Stoner that comes over us. Just see it like a present with a huge mixture of all tones a psychedelic stoneardhead will dream from.
„Between the Cup and Lips“ impressed me with the awesome Guitar bottleneck lick and the wah effekt which is strickly awesome (and my favorite track up there). PLAY IT LOUD!

PALMER GENERATOR
ITALY
STONER/PSYCH

Palmer Generator is a Band born in Jesi/Ancona (IT) in spring 2010, thanks to the collaboration between Tom Palmer (the guitarist), his brother Michael (at the bass) and Matt (behind the drums. He's the son of Michael). The idea was to produce a stoner/alternative rock sound delineated by aggressive rhythmic and enriched by experimental cue with dreamlike reference, psychedelic and post-rock influences.
Sharing the same experiences of life they decide to join their musical abilities.

Letting the melody flowing between the wide empty spaces of their neurons, they translate their mind-trips in long music travels, and thanks to a great flexibility in the composition of music, moving inside their sound, they can develop truth different musical landscapes.

FEEL IT HERE

"I love this trio of family members who create such a fat wall of sound. The album "(e)motionless" begins with a showering sleepy intro, sounds interesting...the full first track comes with a drone riff and forms to a very smooth psychy part with exotic instruments and a lovely atmosphere. In the next seven song's you  can experience lots of good moments...the singing does not convince me...but too bad it is not.
My favourite song's:"Enliven, Jargon and Sleep" let my tympanum vibrate...that makes good mood.
The sound is muffled, but heartily...so get your free and enjoy!"

THE CURSE OF WENDIGO
DOOM/PSYCH
UKRAIN

The Curse of Wendigo is a new ukrainian doom/psychedelic band. They have just reseased our debut album after one year of intensive music writing and playing. Their music is not that what you usually imagine when hear words like stoner, doom and etc., but it's our vision of it. They are influenced by north-american mythology, heavy blues and psychedelic movies.

"Eclectic Tail" tracklist:

Here Comes Clint Eastwood 0:57
A spooky intro at the beginning...nice...
Eclectic Tail 8:09
This song rules from the beginning, creepy bright guitar sounds combines with fat and heavy doom riffs and a dreamy shouting voice, The song remind's me to sometimes  OM so it's  one of my favorite song's on this album.
Gloomy Friend 5:58
A quiet and dreamlike beginning with a kind of ritual style...slow classic doom riffs and solo's follow and form the climax.
Endless Hunger 4:23
Double-speed mode...here we go, a song full of groove and sludgy and post-rock parts...really nice.
The Prodigal Son 4:47
Rather a monotonous song but not bad.
Fallen Treasures 8:22
Again a great song for the last minutes on this nice material...a successful dark, elegant and exciting ending.

Big thank's to Igor

...prehistoric alcoholic...

PREHISTORIC PIGS
ITALY
INSTRUMENTAL STONER

Their words:

We are Prehistoric Pigs.
We have arrived in your era from an ancient past.
Millions of years ago, we ruled the earth, undisturbed and unrivaled.
Now, our descendants are just slaves of humans. They spend their time wallowing in the mud and in their own dung, eating chemical feed and waiting for their killer: the butcher. We were once the kings of the world, now we are at the service of man's hunger, locked up in stinking cages close to chickens and rabbits.

But now we're back. And we wanna take our power back!

We intend to enslaves humans with our music. Our stoned and psychedelic atmospheres will daze their minds and waggle their internal organs.

...bad ass psych!!!

EARLY MAMMAL
LONDON
STONER/PSYCH

Early Mammal started on February 1st 2012 in an old butter factory in Camberwell, South London, called Dropout (London's true home of sludge and noise). Formed by Rob Herian (ex-Elks http://www.heavyplanet.net/2011/10/new-band-to-burn-one-to-elks.html) on guitar and vocals, Ben Davies (ex-85 Bears) on drums, and with the prog-stylings of Turkish born Deniz Belendir on organ and synths, the band spent hours jamming heavy blues, space-rock and psyche with the likes of Captain Beefheart, High Rise, White Hills and Hawkwind on the brain, and in September 2012 finally finished recording their first album, Horror at Pleasure, which is looking for a 2013 release.
It's head-down-rock; it's fuzzed-out and heavy. But there's also something wrong in the story. That's what the last few months have created in Early Mammal and that's what you get. That's what we all get because there's something not right about any of us, anywhere. All our stories are fucked. Early Mammal is coming from somewhere else. It's expected and it's telling you something.

...well well...

THE WELL
STONER/DOOM/PSYCH
USA

The official biography from this nice doom/psych trio from Austin,Texas:
Ian's reclusive and despondent, Lisa wears red lipstick, and Jason is the canary in the coal mine.
Hehe... that's simple and also enough what you have to know...it's all about to music.
They have released their  2 track debut 7 on vinyl...i get one exemplar for  promotion, me and my girlfriend are absolutely thrilled from this extremely fucked up sound and the dirty atmosphere of this two song's.
Lisa is not a second Celine Dion but he is a part of a great and unbelivable doom/psych sound...
I think in  near future we can read more about THE WELL and their upcooming material...hopefuly we can see this heel of a band soon live and rare...

Ominous & black...

OMINOUS BLACK
Anthropic Records
POST-SLUDGE
USA/Phil

Ominous Black began their journey in 2007, deploying lush, doomed, cosmic post-rock mixed with textural psychedelia.  Ominous Black has polished their way through four releases, creating a sound and feel that sets them apart.  For this fifth release, Ominous Black recruited Evan Pontell-Schaefer of Sadgiqacea to beast the gut-wrenching vocals and heart-pounding drums.  This two song release is a testament to where they have been and where they are heading.

The self-titled release is available from anthropic records in white vinyl and black/white marble vinyl.  The art was designed by Alyssa Maucere with hand pressed packaging by Reuben Little (Ocean). The music was recorded at Electrical Audio by the mighty Steve Albini and mastered by John Golden at Golden Mastering.

Ominous Black will tour US/Canada Fall 2012 and will set out for their 6th Full US tour in Spring/Summer 2013.

...hosted from space...

BLACK SPACE RIDERS
STONER/PSYCH
GERMANY

In the fading last winter nights of 2008 JE, SLI, SAQ and CRIP entered a musty and mouldy basement for the first time together: The plan was simple: Jamming ... loud and heavy, rediscovering that nearly lost feeling of getting impassioned by a pushing, pulling, droning and moving wall of self-created sound. It worked!
In 2010 the self-titled debut-album was released. "Black Space Riders" triggered enthusiastic reviews around the globe and the band played a run of sweaty shows in Europe.
Now the space trip is in the second round: the whole conceptual approach jumps on for several million light years. The band is releasing their second album "Light is the new black" on the 16th of march 2012.
Everything belongs together: music and lyrics, band name, song title, cover artwork, sound: a "total vision" is creating strong, cartoon-like images!
Musically BLACK SPACE RIDERS are reaching for the stars behind the boundaries of the StonerSpaceDoom-universe ... Diversification: heavy, hard, hypnotic walls of sound change to atmospheric passages, followed by driving rockers and sternomastoid anthems. Extremes are explored: there are concise three-minute-punch-ups as well as slowly rising and long epics easily exceeding the eight-minute-limit.
There is whispering, singing, crooning, screaming and yelling. You will find wacky soundscapes as well as compact riffmonsters.
And: there is always the approach of writing "real songs" causing a certain degree of "accessibility" combined with a strong groove orientation.
The new album was recorded at "die Tonmeisterei" in Oldenbourg/Germany and boasts an incredibly rich, vibrant, warm, breathing and differentiated analog sound.
This is not at all "modern" and definitely not "retro": timeless rock music loving and developing its roots, taking the best of the traditions of the 70s, 80s and 90s and playing with the future.

JASTREB
CROATIA
OCCULT KRAUTROCK

Hailing from 13th century, these mystical troubadours failed to destroy the Earth in an apocalyptic event gone horribly awry.
After this failure, making music seemed the only way to get cosmic redemption and women.
By opening a diabolical rift and traveling to the future, they escaped the Catholic inquisition and are now getting ready for a second attempt at the aforementioned apocalyptic event.

SINGLE MOTHERS
Shoegaze/Sludge/Experimental
USA

Matthew Proctor aka the Cattle Decapitator aka PoNY paYRoLl BoNEs writes: This is not goddamn bullshit rock! The compositions unfurl subtle fury into dark ravines infused with twilights embers.
Neil Hamburger says: I prefer the sounds of the Big Bands, such as the Tommy Dorsey Orchestra, to this Jesi Langdale says: i would describe it as low down heroin/acid rock.
Miss Informed of My Obscene Baby says: it sounds like in a Womb.

It's a Womb with a view. you're a total psycho and yeah... that's a turn on Chublaze of Deep Water Culture says: lo-fi high energy, experimental noise grunge from the future that travels via time machines to rape ear canals of the present day earth dwellers. Sarah Crawford aka prosac says: its like somebody's nightmare, like LSD in hell, like Rosemary's baby's first words, or like lost souls clashing or complaining. sounds like a weekend abortionmark of Solar Wimp says: it sounds twisted & awesome sean carnage says: Single Mothers seem to be cut from the same cloth as Caroliner Rainbow, early Butthole Surfers and weird side of post-Syd Pink Floyd. I also hear audiophonic analogies to those jarring acoustic breakdowns that Kraut rockers like Faust used to throw into the middle of their albums
