I am sitting here at night, to do this Review about WOODWALL.And this Album now repeats for the 10th time in a row... This Band really kicks ass with its earth-bounded sound. From the fuzzy and thick bass, played by “Massimo Cornali”, to the rough voice, its all a giant WALL. So the Italian Guys figured out the right name for their band, i think!
“WoodEmpire” comes with 6 varied songs. The very first song starts with a Synthesizer / Moog Sound played by “Paolo Cipolla”. This instrument colors the whole CD. It is still Stroner, still Metal, but also Electronic. That makes it Interesting and gives you this kind of Psychedelic feeling, you need!! The Guitar of “Mattero Signanini” one time comes fat and heavy, other times it gives the needed space for the psychedelic parts. Just like my favorite track “Walden”. And then there is “Signanini's” special voice, that fits wonderful to the sound of the band.
So, fact is: WOODWALL created their own special sound, that lets them differentiate from the many other bands, in this great genre of music!
A 5 piece
doom-metal band from Slovenia, Ljubljana formed in 2012.
This all-female
line up released their first Demo tape and started to enter the stages in end
of september last year.
2 Tracks on this
one.
„Phobia“. Hell
yeah, the first 2 parts are bringing you the daily dose of 70's proto
doom-metal. Really dark atmosphere, groovy flare but also straight impulsive
thinking. Uncomfortunately the voice which starts with the 2 riff doesn't fit
for me. Probably you should just convince yourself but in my opinion it's a
typical case of less would be more. Anyway the riffs are cool, the drums fit
and it got some nice grooves in it.
Second song „The
living dead“ is definitely the weaker one. The riffs are ok. Not outstanding
but still ok. But they lose this 70's character. I don't like it that much but
maybe this can turn into some cool stuff soon. I mean the directions are right
just the implementation isn't that well yet.
GHOULS COME KNOCKIN´ started their band career in the winter of 2006 under the name GODFORSAKEN in their hometown of Salzburg, Austria. Then the quintet, consisting of two guitarists, a bassist, a drummer, and a singer, dedicated themselves to Swedish Death / Trash Metal and released two EPs, titled “Under Baphomets Sign“ and “Blood Night Fever.”
In 2008, drummer Sebastian Hübner found his way into the band, and still passionately torments the drum kit today. One year later, guitarist Stephan Hacek quit the band and the remaining musicians decided to continue as a quartet.
Over the course of time, the style of the band slowly changed more towards Heavy Metal / Rock ‘n’ Roll / Punk and the musicians decided to continue their career as GHOULS COME KNOCKIN´ in 2010. Two years later the EP “Death Rock Mayhem“ and numerous concerts followed.
Between 2009 and 2013, there were several changes in singers until bassist Janis Hacek decided to take responsibility for this part himself and the band continued as a trio.
Concerts with bands such as ZOMBIE INC, WARBRINGER, HAVOK, SKELETON WITCH, ANGELUS APATRIDA, PETER PAN SPEED ROCK, CALIBAN, OUR SURVIVAL DEPENDS ON US, among others, followed.
In 2013 the band released their current full length album “Dead Beat Glory,” which was recorded in the KK Studios in Salzburg. The album was completely self-produced. At the same time the first official music video of the song “Psychonaut” was shot, which was released at the same time as the album.
The style of the band is a smashing mix of Speedrock and Metal with catchy hooklines with a punky attitude, delivered in a suitably dirty manner.
The lyrics tell epic tales of rebellion, death, freedom, self-awareness and the occasional state of intoxication.
"It's not a shame to say that the ghouls play a kind of "motorhead oriented" music with a bit more fire and pressure. Also, the singer does not have that ugly wara in his face and they are as well able to play live and don't have to cancel their tour plans permanently. This guys from my hometown absolutely convinced meaning that also the debut album kicks ass like hell. It's a powerful engine with a double carburetor and a big tank full of whiskey...song's like "Dead Beat Glory", "Ghouls Nite Out", "Lucifer A.D" or the mighty song of the video "Psychonaut" make a good mood and motivate me to open a beer and switch the party mode on! Tight and hard hitting drums, fast licks and shrill solos combined with a raw and angry voice : or in short term GHOULS COME KNOCKING! ...so watch out they are coming to get you!!!"
Tuber grew up in a sunny place, south of Greece, in an island called Crete. They were hiding from the sun, jamming in dark studios and playing their music in rock caves. As they moved north, sounds became lighter, since they started miss hot ground. Balance came as a result of smash, dark embraced light and improvisation turned into an effortless and instinctive process. Tuber moved their interest into new forms, founding themselves experimenting with compositions that combine mixed styles and sounds from different ground. Focus is now on rock aesthetic flirting with psychedelic atmosphere and a touch of romantic mood. At this time Tuber live in Serres, forming their feelings and thoughts into music and words, still learning how to leave with reality and reinventing it with love.
"If you had a bad day at work or your beer is empty...do not despair because with this smooth tunes you can relax on your sofa and can immerse themselves in other worlds. Tuber are from my favourite land to make holiday...it's Greece and like the landscape and the people of this land, the music comes with a lot ofemotions and the attitude of the natureandfriendliness.
I like the last work of them a lot and I was very impressed of the new album, it's a little bit different than the other one, they transforms to a new area, more heavy and varied than the last but also really good..."
As an attack on
modern pop culture and inspired by American bands such as Buzzoven,
Weedeater and Bongzilla, the dirt bag heroes of Slowjoint, drags through
slow bluesy riff's only to explode in a beer fueled mothertrucker of a
jumping groove. With a highly raised middle-finger to the upper class
the lyrics adds an aggression that punks it all up and keeps the buzz going.
After only four months of existing, the band recorded a three track
demo called Retarded Blues Anthems, recorded live in the studio by
Christian Bonde @ CBstudios (DK). It was recorded in one day on, May
3rd, 2012. It was released for free streaming on the Internet, and later
re-released on cheap ass secondhand tapes in a very limited edition,
all copies recorded by the band itself.
Enjoy this great Interview on the sludgelord blogsite here
"It's loud, dirty and pure...like their like-minded bands like Weedeater, Dopethrone, Buzzoven they live from fat bass lines, they come straight from the deep of hell. This three Weedians love the green plant and this can be heard also the texts and you can feel it on every fucking tone. For a lot people it's unpleasant noise for me it's energetic and just plain intoxicating dirty. I like this kind of music and i can I can highly recommend this demo and i think also the next releases will be work good. Kick back and stretch your sack because here is...SLOWJOINT...make some noise!" Text:Stonerhead
A new album from the psych rock dudes of GO BANANAS is born and and is baptized "Erutan".
This second strike after the cool debut "I no seas" has more psychedelic parts and bursting with fresh energy and ideas. Funny song names like "Never buy Weed from an Alien for more than 382 Liters Water" or the awesome instruments they use in the songs are really pleasant and something new.The individual sound structures let the whole not be boring and one or another song with hit potential is to find on this compact disc of the yellowed fruits.
Some song's are in vernacular of Austria, the other song's are played in english...
The vocals are smooth, hold back and merge throughout the whole band.
The solo parts are very varied and playful, they pass through different worlds.
No value is placed on a fixed structure or to comply with any standards, also the design of the cd and the whole all around is very thoughtful.
The tour edition is made of a wood board and the CD comes in a cool Vinyl style, so it's possible to hang their album on your wall in your living room.
The final edition will come soon and can be ordered on their facebook site or via mail.
Give them a chance to fruit your day...
The original idea with Assblaster was to get away from girls, get
heavily intoxicated and feed cranked Marshalls with fuzztones from the
blastiest guitars we could find. Assblaster has always been about five
guys making as much heavy noise as possible. 'Blaster is not doing
anything new or contributing to the scene with some crazy ass fusion of
exotic music genres. This is straight up Fuzz n' Roll. In yer phace.
Things quickly got out of hand as Assblaster eventually hit the
stages around town. We did the first gig at this truck stop bar deep in
the woods outside Uppsala, Sweden. We expected nothing and got
everything. Naked women, naked men, broken bones and a five hour
collective black out. But, we've seen pictures from the gig. We looked
cool. The crowd got blasted that night.
Assblaster has been playing sold out shows ever since. Gigs have
been shut down due to the band being too loud, being too drunk & the
crowd getting butt naked. Headlining acts hate us and the crowd loves
us.
The phenomenon known as Assblaster has grown and taken a form far
greater than we'd ever imagined. With a cult following and a new album
the band will make 2014 into a 12 month rodeo of fuzz, beer and trashed
bars.
"ASSBLASTER is not the title of a
gayporn movie or something, it's the bandname of five hairy beer
drinking dudes from Stockholm, they have choosen a strange name that's
true, but i promise you that the music will blow the shit out of your
asses...so download their free debut album and bang your beardy face to
this awesome tracks...if you like Clutch, Down and Beer, you will also
like the tracks of the band...stomping grooves, blues full riffs and
some great powerful solos and licks, i personally can only recommend the
tape. It's a typical and simple concept of a stoner rock band
again...but it works well and the title "VENI VIDI BLAST!" and the
muscle car fits perfectly to this male product. I'm curious how they
will evolve and I'm looking forward to see these guys live in the next
time!!!"
So here is another band from
Germany! BONE MAN is a three headed combo from Kiel, which was founded
at 2007. This New Album named II is the 7th release of the Band. The
Album starts with a percussive fuzzy guitar and bass part that hooked me
on. Then, at 01:40 the singer MARIAN starts with his own special work.
On the whole recording the Vocals are well arranged, partly with several
voices. At the 2nd song “Closer To The Sun” the band shows a bit of
60ies and 70ies feeling. . There’s an Organ too.. WOW.. very impressive!
The psychedelic style goes on at the third song, however it then gets
noisy with the song “Stuck In The Mire”. Crowned with a kind of Russian
Choir Voice.. I really like that Creativity. In “Out Of Phase” there are
long noisy guitar vibes and grooving parts too. Nearly a bit
progressive. All in All, MARIAN on the Guitar, ARNE on the Bass and ÖTZI
on the drums, do a good and creative job on their instruments. It's not
easy, to be so melodious in this kind of genre. Rocking songs, with
fuzzy noise, cool solos and varied riffs included. Unfortunately I don't
know the other releases of BONE MAN. But I think, I have to check them
out!
