...Double feature...

SIENA ROOT
and
TORSO

13.03.2012
ARENA VIENNA
Torso in Action
A great stonerrock day started with a cardrive from Salzburg to Vienna. A hole bunch of crazy drivers and (measured in beer) 5 liters later we arrived in our capital. After rollin' we were ready for the rockin'-part but the arena was not ready for the SHLGYBT-team -yet! An hour in the "Arena Beisl", which saved our asses from freezing, the gates of the "dreiraum" opened too and the night could begin. It was nice to see that a surprising number of stonerheads for a Tuesday found the way too. TORSO began to heat the crowd. These four guys from Vienna play groovy stoner with a lot of: 70s-style, effects, all phaser, delay, wah wah and a lot of fuzz.

On the record the band convices with a nice production, good songwriting and the fitting soundmaterial. Back to the dreiraum.. At first taken a close look at, they could thaw the audience after a few songs. But they didn't manage to bring the real pressure, what could have been the fault of the livinroom-amps and kind of  popy vocals . All in all they definitely were a nice opening act and i could rock to songs like "Hounting Witches", "Inside". I got hungry for thirst.. so beer..

...after a short break also the stars of the night entered the stage  - SIENA ROOT. They began with instrumental songs like "Bhairavi" and "Jog" from the record "Different Realityis" and of course "Root Jam".
...the crowd did clearly enjoy the show from the first second. Sound engineer did a nice job and the sound was blowing minds - like on the record. Then the Led Zeppelin grove in "Good and Bad", the singer jumped on the stage and the hole dreiraum started to dance.
"Mountain I, In the Desert, Over the Mountains"and other genius Siena-songs rocked until the bitter end. The guys clearly enjoyed the gig too, said good bye with a smile and left us satisfied and exhausted.
