Biografie

Mother of all the multicultural cities, London is the melting pot where five lads, their respective nationalities and single musical influences happened to collide and form Strauss. A project inspired and driven by the adverse powers of modern western society, this is also the repressed need to speak out for those wishing to break away from a far too rationalised routine.

Groovy, fierce yet soul-rocking, Strauss’s sound is the musical produce of a desperate attempt to drag out what is left of their heavily besmirched creativity. A mould of old-school metal, stoner and sludge, this is the tuneful achievement of five inspirationally distinct musicians with no obligations but a mutual tendency to overcome sonic clichés and deliver awesomely exiting live performances.

Sure they know how to have and bring fun. Vocals and riffs are just as heavy as the aggressive drums bashing throughout each bloody song. What you hear is what you get – a blast of musical adrenaline, power and coordination.

"A very intersting raw sound what this dude's of "STRAUSS" recorded on this album.
With a lot of good ideas, a good concept and also a great implementation the whole album has a good
duration function for me. At home the album sounds full and good mixed. At first it was a bit exceptional for me but after a intense listening it was exciting and enthralling.

The vocals are heavy and brutal and fits good to the songstructures.

My favourite track "Burning Sky" I recommend several times to take in portions daily."

These stoner prog dudes, how they call themselves, come from the rough north. Rough as these canadian guys is also their sound of fuzz-loaded grooving heaviness. So lean back and blow yourself apart with „Pslip“ the first full length track, mixed with some nice stoner as well as doom stuff. First of all great artwork. Casey McKinley, well done! The opener „Pslip in“. A short track which exactly does what it ought to: Increase attention. Fluid transition into „Little Smoke“. Interesting mix between rythm based stoner riffs and atmospheric wide-sound parts. 

The voice in between reminded me in a way of some 80's power metal stuff - Pretty heroic character which you also find on some riffs. „Control Folly“ has a great beginning. Especially the second part is really damn cool. Accentuated riffs and cool tempo switches, in between some rolling voice-parts which bring back the stoner vibe. Besides, they also return to this killer-riff at the beginning. Well done! „100“. The First part is really cool but then it gets more slowly and also quieter, which is not everyone's taste. Still, there's this 80's power metal influence. 

Nice solo in the middle or maybe more in the end. Oh yeah „Psquigalogz“ starts with some mighty in-your-face-riffing. It's rolling, it sounds pretty damn fat and will encourage you to roll another one. Best song so far. „Into nothing“. Stoner Punk with some heavy mid-tempo riffs which have potential to cause some kind of eargasms. Recognition value on this one. 

„Smoke filled room“. The beginning has some post rock elements which are getting destroyed directly afterwards by some evil guitar riffs and some vocals on it. Then it's about returning from those evil-big-balls-style to more melodic stuff and backwards...flowing switches but a bit too melodic for my taste. Finally we get to the longest track. „Pseptember“ An innovative piece of 9 minutes. A nice slow-down track which brings some new stoner/doom characteristics into it. „Pslip out“. A psychedelic instrumental closing track of 2 minutes which ends the record. All in all a great band with it's own style to check out. You can invest your time worse than listening to this.

Ok, lets get it on... at first it sounds very groovy and funky on "My Woman" with a huge bass sound and after all that, 

BOOM! the vocalist gives a asskick with his voice and starts with the crew the whole thing on.

The vocals are very massive and sounds a little bit like Ragga Reggae or Tribe Metal sometimes. 

Mostly very fat bad ass angry deep voluminous stuff and on the other hand there are sometimes 

cleaner parts with some effects on a few parts.

The whole album is very fuzzy, but for sure not for every Stonerhead i think.

What the track length belongs is all in the lower range with about 3 to 5 minutes.

A Phaser beams Us into "Paranoia", the second track. Some good arranged drum parts gives this track a personal note.

But like all tracks straight, slow, deep, hard and short.

In "Change" they really change the sound, now it gets a little bit more melodic, and some good breaks rounds up the track.

Guitar solos are not really much there... in "Absynth" you can hear one, and even that is more in the background.

The sound is pretty direct and straight. Sometimes the Voice remembers me on Nu-Metal / Alternative stuff or something.

But sounds still like underground Stuff and did not get "commercial" or something.

"Orgasm" starts with a smooth slow clean reefer tone. Some ambient sounds came through too the first time, and the bass sounds awesome here.

the vocals sounds very dirty, like a heroin shot through the microphone.

Time for the next Track "Thought". It was the first time where i really thought on Stoner Doom or Stuff like i expected, but it is still not on it´s best.

I am sure that they have even more potential as we can hear on this Album.

"Deformed" definetly sounds like straight Rock or Alternative track, except of the fuzzy guitar sound. The drums are really cool here.

Grunge or Crossover from the early 90z comes in my mind.

Finally we got i a nice cup of "Tea" It seems like a final Statement where they show that the can do it if they want. A strange brew of various Vocals with

fat fuzzy sounds over nice breaks n fill in´s upon real good drums. The end gets a bit Doomy too. The riffs remembers me sometimes on Spiritual Beggars,

but it´s a very different own sound Pinkemical Sunset has. Very nice Track!

It it my favorite Track on this Album, because here is all i expected from a Stoner track.
