...witchkrofft...

Krofft
USA
Instrumental Stoner/Sludge

Ed is a 40yr old custodian from Boston, who has 2 kids and loves everything from the 70s: especially Sid and Marty Krofft, Brady Bunch and station wagons. And then there is Speck, a muslim/half-iranian who was born in 1976 in Baltimore, Maryland but has lived in LA since 1983. He loves chicks with dicks, 80s VHS, wrestling, 70s rock as well as funk. As they both loved Sleep, Sabbath and Electric Wizard, they formed a band, and got the name by chance: Speck was looking for something to put inside the kick drum in order to dampen the sound. While doing so, he found an orange shag carpet that reminded him oft he 70s Krofft Supershow. They started playing outside anywhere they could, and eventually got to play at Uncle Rehearsal Studios in Van Nuys, CA. Krofft basically is influenced by some of their favourite bands: Grief, Fu Manchu.. however, Speck’s guitar playing reminds a lot of Nirvana’s Bleach – altough his co-member Ed hates them. Despite the fact that they sound great live, both of them say that they don’t look cool enough to have a live show worth watching. What is more, Ed never goes to live shows, because he is much more interested in the recorded sound, also he is always fidgeting with the knobs as well as changing the sound.

"There is not much to say about Krofft, they make a kind of experimental Doom Metal, all arrangements are very chaotic but that's i think it's intentionally and absolute their style to make music. Simple and minimalistic drumwork and such a spooky sound what they create, after a time it's a little bit hard to hear but you can hear the motivation. From Muff's,Overdrives and Octavers on the Guitar, main thing is it is deep and booming...Check them out and get droned!!!

DRONE HUNTER
CROATIA
INSTRUMENTAL STONER ROCK

Drone Hunter was concieved in late March of 2012. Drummer Rus had this idea of a groovy rock band that would allow all members to express in a way that gives them a lot of freedom without limitations concerning genre or stereotypes. After writing a song in 20 minutes with guitarist Fitz he decided to jam together more frequently and seriously. Soon after Klen joined us on bass guitar and as we jammed an average of one new song per rehearsal we realized that the band works great without a vocalist. Drone Hunter songs are quite simple, groovy and heavy without any fancy melodies or shredding solos.
Reduced to mere rawness and stripped of overthinked and overproduced arrangements, we play straight from our hearts and souls and are having a good fuckin' time as we do that. In July 2013 we recorded our debut self titled and self released album which contains 10 songs and rounds up our work since we started this whole thing.

"Attention,attention...this band is a present from god, satan or whoever...this album rocks the shit out of you from the first second to the last, full of great riffs, awesome solos and a bunch of great rhythm changes and other cool arrangements. The Drone Hunters play instrumental music in the style of Karma to Burn but with they own style...song's like "Blood Island, The Hunt, The Ram and Backfire" let rotate your ears...so kick back and give them your support and like them...because it's good for you!!!

...instrumental spaghetti western...

Korsakov%vol
Itay
Instrumental Stoner/Space Rock

Korsakov%vol. were born as an idea, during the summer 2004,by a solo project of the guitarist Mundula Davide. This project after being through many changes of line up due to a particular sound, became real at the down of 2006 when the bassist Pierpaolo Dore(good old friend of the guitarist) and the drummer Marco Secci Joined in. The trio recorded the first demo "palmo muto" in july 2006. Shortly after the keyboard player Porcu Graziano (another good old friend) were going to be part of the plan.
The 4 although coming from different music style sometimes diametrically opposite, try to mix their own experience gained over the years in order to shake up the stagnant music scene( with physiological modesty)...

So that's the band who shown up at the " sottosuoni " contest in 2006 that was held in a venue called "transilvania". That's basically considered as a debut , even though the very first gig were performed in a place that we called "ORTO" for a private party ( who knows this place can easily figure it out what we are talking about )....
When the drummer left the band due to musical differences about a huge abuse of booze on the stage and relative disaster, but with 3 performance behind , the band went on just for few months before split up when Davide was gone to London looking for a strike of luck!!

"A very colourful sound what this guys create in their rehearsal room, there a lot of effects, synths and heavy riffs to hear and only the first three song's kicks ass, if you like band's like Oresund Space Collective, Monkey 3 or Electric Moon you will love this great sound of the italian guys, do it...now!!
Grasshopper is my favourite song...Thumb up!"

big thanks to DAVIDE

 NIBIRU
DOOM/SLUDGE
ITALY

Nibiru is formed in august 2012 by the split up of Tronus Abyss (several studio albums and live with
Wolves in the Throne Room in 2010) the band moves towards psychedelic sludge
sonority with an enphasis on vocals only in enochian language,

deciding to record
the songs in direct drive to preserve the spirit and the energy of improvisation
on which the same are based, adding very few overdubs of keyboards and vocals during the mixing.
The band consist of three elements, Siatris:drums and Virus, Ardath:guitar and enochian chants, RI: bass and liturgic organ.

The band is notable for the disturbing videos posted on the web (Invokation I: the Acid Skull,
Celeste:Samsara is broken, Smashanam:the crematorium ground of Kali and Invokation IV: Heru-khentan-maati) visible on youtube, facebook and reverbnation.

The month of February 2013 saw the release of their first cd "Caosgon", containing five tracks that we difined ritual psychedelic sludge.

"At first to the cover...a google image unimaginative and distorted...ok? To the music ...The Intro (available for free on bandcamp) is a track with a proud length of  18 minutes, on this song you can build your first impression. The song builds slowly to a smooth structure until it explodes in heavy doom riffing. A really good opener for  the album"Caosgon" of this horned italians...It continues with "Smashanam, The Crematorium Ground Of Kalu"a downtuned high gain chainsaw noise forms into a acid rock part and turns off at about 5 minutes...fortunately! Aster Argos, the third track on this crazy disc of sound constitutes a inharmonious successive ranking of riff structures that sometimes comes nice but the most of the time was exhausting for my ears.
Again a fat start with this downtuned crumbly bass guitar...ends again in a massacre of tones, strangely, it grooves once again!!! "Umbra Venefica" the last song on this album...The first minutes are very interesting but after a time it is simply too unstructured. My Conclusion:
If you like band's like FJODOR, The Cosmic Dead maybe you will understand a little this music...everyone wants he wants."

AUSTRALASIA - Sin4tr4
Instrumental Post Rock/Metal,Shoegaze
Italy

AUSTRALASIA is a childhood spent listening to Ennio Morricone's
soundtracks; a youth on the sharp edge of the underground,
extreme metal scene; a whole life sunk into the Post-rock molten wax
with a strong fascination for the sound of vintage synthesizers.

This is the place where unusual soundscapes come to life:
ethereal guitars mix with blast beat drums and black metal riffing,
giving birth to strange and fast-flowing tunes.
Here subterranean streams alternate with tidal waves,
turning into cinematic pictures that can last just the blink of an eye.
A path distant from the typical instrumental music clichés.

 THE REVIEW

If I am not mistaken, the EP starts with the sound of a cassette, which is inserted into a tape recorder. That takes me back to the 80ies and early 90ies, and gives a good symbolical preview about the general feeling that I had, during my hearing sessions.
The well placed walls of synthesizers, the delayed guitars and the precise drumming... All this reminds me of bands like GY!BE or JOY DIVISION.
And then there is this influence of Post-Metal. The hard guitar riffs and fast drums, mixed with nearly psychedelic parts.

Unfortunately the songs are very short. The longest Track (No.2 – SPINE) comes with 04:23. So the songs let you fly, but the landing is coming to quickly, I felt.
What ever, Sin4tr4 is a nice, atmospheric and experimental piece of music. It will be interesting to see a Live Performance of AUSTRALASIA!

The Great Khan
Southern/Stoner Rock

Buzzer is a southern rock - stoner trio from Tel Aviv, Israel, formed in 2004 by Greg Buzzer (guitars, vocals) Roy Khen (drums) and Gil' Ben Yaakov (bass). In 2005 the band self-released their debut album "Got Me Wasted", which gained them recognition in the local scene. Buzzer also became known for their energetic live performances. The next album "Buzzraiser", also self-released and self-produced, followed in 2007 and was well received by the stoner crowd. The year 2009 saw Buzzer releasing two EP's; "Alive" and "Rolling".

2012- Greg Buzzer releases a-self titled 7-track solo project, under the name of "The Great Khan"- a warm, fuzz driven, southern and classic rock influenced studio project.

PREHISTORIC PIGS
ITALY
INSTRUMENTAL STONER

Their words:

We are Prehistoric Pigs.
We have arrived in your era from an ancient past.
Millions of years ago, we ruled the earth, undisturbed and unrivaled.
Now, our descendants are just slaves of humans. They spend their time wallowing in the mud and in their own dung, eating chemical feed and waiting for their killer: the butcher. We were once the kings of the world, now we are at the service of man's hunger, locked up in stinking cages close to chickens and rabbits.

But now we're back. And we wanna take our power back!

We intend to enslaves humans with our music. Our stoned and psychedelic atmospheres will daze their minds and waggle their internal organs.

...cobra news...

Sound of Cobra are really happy to announce that the Lp split between Expo’70 and Ancient Ocean is out!

After the onesided released some months ago the Missouri based multi-instrumentalist Justin Wright releases for Sound of Cobra a split lp with the new yorker avant rock guitarist Ancient Ocean.

listen to this great Split at bandcamp
buy it here

Justin Wright / Expo 70 for this 12″ keeps his psych drone space attitude mixed with kraut influences. Hanging the guitar at the wall in a corner, he recorded a great moog impro (using OPUS 3 and Realistic): a tranquil ambient soundtrack, dreamy as tangerine dream can be, perfect for a space journey, somewhere else near the stars, far far away from this earth we live on; a warm texture keeps us in vacuum place and no rythms come to bring us back to the reality. Listening to it, we thought there´s a magic place somewhere and we wanna find it and go there: but now, we just enjoy this 20mins Justin made for us.
The other side is for the brooklyn based musician John Bohannon aka ANCIENT OCEAN: hailing from the American South, he has howned a unique style of blissed-out amibent/drone meets americana-rooted psychedelia. The spaceship we were on slowly turns into a submarine and from the outer space we quicly dive into a deep ocean made of guitar loops and samples, listening to it we feel lost in a mix of cold and warm currents and dark shadows swim all around. Nice to be here!

The split comes out in 500 copies and it’s in collaboration with our friends of NO=FI Recordings and it’s released in occasion of their first european tour.

"A really interesting project of this two band's...you have a really big range of music and i think a lot of people will like this split because it's a little bit from everything in it...i hope i get the chance to see them live on their first tour...enjoy this great album and also check out other bands of SOUND OF COBRA...like the mighty DEAD SKELETONS...here ande other possible band's here"

Big thanks to Ricky

...Groove Express...

BALERO
Stoner Rock
Balero is a heavy rock, instrumental 3 piece from Wyoming Valley, Pennsylvania

Here’s the lowdown, BALERO got together in Wilkes-Barre, PA in 2002 with all members having the same goal in mind, to play the music that we love for the people who love this kind of music. We’re not out to reinvent the wheel just to rock the jams that we like to play in our own style. We are currently a three piece in search of a singer to take our music to the next level. A singer can make your band ten times better or ten times worse and we’re waiting for the better. We know what we’re looking for and we’re not going to settle for less! So we just continue to jam and write new material and hopefully the right singer will hop on the BALERO EXPRESS.

...stoner on the front....

STONERFRONT NIJMEGEN
 Nijmegen/Holland
 Instrumental/Stoner

Starting in april 2008, the STONERFRONT NIJMEGEN originally found itself in ever changing line-ups. And though many things were uncertain, one thing was not, the aural path which was to be followed. That being stoner, with flagship outfits the likes of Kyuss and Monster Magnet (their old stuff) as guiding lights. After the release of three tracks ('Supercar', 'World of Geeks' and '299.80') plus a performance at the zomerfeesten in Nijmegen (Holland), Peter Dragt (Bambix, Emperors) and Remco Verweij (Starfish, Barbarella) deceided it was time to put things in gear and unleash the front in the form of an instrumental powertrio. In John Munnich they found the bassplayer that they were looking for. The soulfull monolithic riffs, kick ass drumparts and tight bottom-end sprinkeled with tasty samples should be sufficient to take listeners on a testosterone trip. Make no bones about it! Stoner's the word we're looking for. Whilst originality is a thing which is put on the backburner.
During the first weekend of april 2012 Stonerfront Nijmegen will record their first Ep/7 inch in the famous Void studio in Eindhoven.

Members:
Drums: Peter Dragt
Bas: John Munnich
Gitaar: Remco Verweij
